The camera we used was the school camera which although was a simple little camera the quality was goo enough for us to be able to film our final opening two minutes on. Despite the camera being of a high enough quality for the purpose when moving onto next year we would film on our own camera this is due to two different reasons. One, it was very difficult to film during much darker lighting as the camera would not pick up much of the movement. This made it difficult for us to use the lighting we had originally planned to use and instead had to film it in a brighter natural lighting, which is not conventional of horror films. Second being that the sound quality was not great on the camera. Although this was not a major issue it did take up more time than we originally thought as we had to re film some of the sound and then edit it in over the footage. The editing software we used was Adobe premier elements, this was because it was simple and easy
to use but still effective at editing our footage together. Adobe allowed us to manipulate different shots with tools including cut, transitions and crop while also allowing us to alter the pace of the shots. In horror films one of the conventions is that it will be very fast paced and this software allowed us to do that. This software also allowed us to add titles to our opening making it appear more professional and have the properties of a real film. As we had a great success with this software this time we have decided that we will also use it when editing next year. Blogger allowed us to easily post all the research and planning and follow the process we followed as a group in order to end up with our final opening two minutes. An advantage of blogger is that you are able to customise it and change the designs and templates making it more personal to you. The features on blogger allow people within the same group to have individual pages that represents themselves. Also now looking back at previous posts it is clearly displayed so we can follow the journey all over again.
Youtube was very useful throughout the journey as it is very easy to upload and access other peoples videos. As it is one of the most popular video websites there is millions of videos for people to watch in order to get inspiration from other peoples work. It allowed work within the group to be easily transferred to the other group member and also allowed us to gain a better understanding of how it all work. For example it allowed us to annotate our opening with the annotation tool on Youtube which I was previously unaware of.
